IN THE STUDIO

The studio is where the work is made, developed, discarded and begun again until it finds its form.

Mesa de trabajo y los materiales en el estudio, con pinturas, herramientas y una obra en proceso.

Where painting begins to happen.

Obra en tonos rojos y amarillos apoyada en el estudio, junto a bastidores y materiales de trabajo.
Varias obras apoyadas en una zona de paso del estudio, con luz natural al fondo.

Where works wait, move and find their place.

TRES EN EL ESTUDIO (THREE IN THE STUDIO)

An AI is part of my creative process.

It participates in conversations about the work, in experiments and transformations, in texts, images and video, and in solving the technical problems needed for an idea to develop, take form and be presented. All of this forms part of my practice as an artist.

What changes in the creative process when an AI can also generate?

Generation does not determine the work.

AI generates possibilities: it proposes, connects, transforms, questions and finds solutions. Some of these possibilities enter the process; others are corrected, rejected or abandoned.

Between what AI generates and what ultimately becomes a work are my judgement, my decisions and the limits I set at each stage: what continues, what is modified, what is discarded and when something is finished.

I do not yet know what place AI occupies in my practice. Its role changes from one moment to the next and may continue to transform over time.

What place will AI come to occupy in my creative process?
